Located in Yichang City, Hubei Province, CTGU is a comprehensive university jointly built by the Ministry of Water Resources and the People's Government of Hubei Province. In 2018, CTGU was selected to be developed into first-class universities in China by the provincial government. CTGU consists of 20 colleges and 78 undergraduate programs covering nine fields including science, engineering, liberal art, medicine, economics, management, law, education and art. There are 5,279 doctoral candidates and postgraduates, 22,434 undergraduates and 1,400 international students of CSC Scholarship, Provincial Government Scholarship, Enterprise Scholarship and self-funded.
CTGU is a member of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) and the permanent secretariat unit of N.E.W.S. It has established long-term and stable cooperative relations with more than 170 universities in more than 60 countries and regions. CTGU is the largest in terms of the number of international students and majors, with English as instruction language, among Hubei provincial universities.
About the College of Medical Science
The college has 6 undergraduate majors including Clinical Medicine, Medical Imaging, Pharmacy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Nursing and Preventive Medicine, among which, Clinical Medicine and Pharmacy have been selected into the National First-class Major Construction Program, Medical Imaging is the National Characteristic Major and Provincial First-class Undergraduate Major. The postgraduate education starts from 2001, among which there are 5 master’s degree programs of first-level discipline.
In 2004, the college enrolled the first batch of international students of Clinical Medicine. In 2011, CTGU became one of the 45 authorized universities to recruit MBBS students (English medium) by the Ministry of Education (MOE). In 2014, CTGU was awarded the title “Demonstration base for international student education” by MOE. By now, the college has cultivated 651 international students who have been awarded the degree through MBBS program. At present, there are more than 3,000 undergraduates, 700 postgraduates and 400 international students in the college.
The college has run MBBS program for 17 years, and has rich experience in cultivating international students. The college boasts good teaching and research platforms. Six hospitals bear the entitlement of third-grade class-A (top level in China) and have 6,652 beds and 3.78 million outpatients each year.
Yichang Central People's Hospital

Yichang Central People's Hospital was founded in 1949. In 2003, it became one of the teaching hospitals of China Three Gorges University and established the First Clinical Medical College of China Three Gorges University. It is a comprehensive Third-grade class-A hospital, baby-friendly hospital, designated hospital of Alliance for Smiles and Network Hospital of International Emergency Rescue Center, which integrates medical treatment, prevention, health care, teaching and scientific research. In 2008, it was awarded the title of "Third Grade Excellent Hospital" by the Provincial Health Department. In 2012, it was jointly awarded the title of "TCM Demonstration Unit among national comprehensive hospitals" by the Ministry of Health and other ministries and commissions. In May 2012, it was designated as a hospital to be relied on to build regional medical and health centers by the Provincial Health Department and Yichang municipal government.
The hospital is comprised of two main hospitals and one branch hospital. It has 73 inpatient wards and 2,450 beds with 3,314 employees. It has 24 first grade and 53 second grade medical subjects of diagnosis and treatment respectively. Annual visits to the outpatient reached about 2.5 million and 120,000 patients were discharged.

Affiliated Renhe Hospital of China Three Gorges University, known as the Second Clinical Medical College of China Three Gorges University, is the directly affiliated hospital of China Three Gorges University. Founded in 1967, it is a comprehensive Third-grade class-A hospital under the direct management of Hubei Provincial Health Commission, which integrates medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention and health care as well as rehabilitation. It is also a baby-friendly hospital and Yichang Red Cross Hospital.
The hospital is comprised of one main hospital and two branch hospitals. It has 40 inpatient wards and 845 beds with 1,127 employees. It has 25 first grade and 44 second grade medical subjects of diagnosis and treatment respectively. Annual visits to the outpatient reached about 600,000 and 30,000 patients were discharged.
Yichang First People's Hospital

Yichang First People's Hospital, one of the teaching hospitals of China Three Gorges University, known as the People's Hospital of China Three Gorges University also, was founded in 1879. It is a comprehensive Third-grade class-A hospital integrating medical treatment, scientific research, teaching, prevention and rehabilitation. It is also a baby-friendly hospital and a Network Hospital of International Emergency Rescue Center.
The hospital is comprised of one main hospital, one rehabilitation hospital and one community healthcare center. It has 17 provincial key clinical specialties, 37 municipal key clinical specialties and 3 municipal medical centers with 1,800 beds.
